Kerpi - the nuts and seeds factory
In 2008, the people at the Kerpi IT department read about the RFID technology and its practically unlimited applications. This information brought them to us at a time when they having problems with the tracking of their inventory.
Kerpi has 12 warehouse departments with various seeds and nuts packed in big bags of 500-1,000 kg and was ready to invest in a state-of-the-art solution for inventory tracking.
To answer the needs of their large business, we needed to adjust our software. Following multiple tests in real-life environment, we found that the humidity in the nuts absorbs the radio waves and impedes tag reading.
We have since been able to deal with this challange and the system kicked off. We set up a tag reading point connected to scales and a touch screen for a streamlined work process for the operators.
